It’s All In The Cake Topper

Alright, so I haven’t done a just for fun post in quite a while, so I thought I’d do a little hunting and see what kind of unique cake topper ideas I could come up with. Of course, it didn’t take too long to find some classic, humorous and even some really odd ones to share!

The cake topper has gone from super traditional to uber creative and I always thinks it’s fun to see what people come up with. Now I’m not suggesting traditional is bad, but it definitely is nice to see what else is out there! But don’t be afraid to go either way! As usual, nothing is wrong or right, it’s just about what you feel! See below for some great ideas!

Man, some of these are just different, but who am I to judge! I think they’re all fun in their own way because they exude a certain type of personality, don’t you think?? Nothing better than when a bride and groom brings their personality to every part of the wedding!

I’m Craving Birthday Cake!

I don’t know about you all but I am a HUGE fan of sweets, and when I say huge fan, I mean HUGE fan! In fact, I just finished off an ice cream cone! Heck, my dentist loves me because I help keep him in business. Despite my dentist’s warnings, I just can’t help myself – when my sweet tooth is a callin’ it must be answered! You wouldn’t just let your phone ring off the hook every time it rang now would you? I think not!

Speaking of sweet tooth, it’s definitely in full effect around birthday time, not just mine but everyone I know too. Whether it’s cupcakes, 3-4 tier cakes, kid’s cakes or sculpture cakes, I take my birthday cake anyway I can get it. Today, I thought I’d highlight a new cake maker in town, satisfying birthday (and wedding) cake needs all over the St. Louis, Missouri area. Her name is Shannon, the company is SugarBritches Cakery and the birthday cakes…well they speak for themselves. If you’re planning a birthday party (or any other kind of party) in or around St. Louis and you’re looking for a unique cake, you MUST give her a shout. I know I plan to!

I’m Feeling a Little YELLOW

Okay, so I’ve seen dozens and dozens of amazing color boards and pictures in the past few weeks that have inspired me to write a little something tonight. Why? Because they all have one thing in common. The color YELLOW!

Now I must say, I’ve always been more a of a red and gray kind of girl myself. Don’t believe me? Check out my wedding photos. But seeing all of the bright yellow colors popping out of photographs, and off of my computer screen, is nearly enough to make me change my mind. It’s entirely possible that yellow might be becoming one of my new favorite colors for 2010.

A Cake to Remember

When was the last time you had a piece of wedding cake or birthday cake? Do you remember what it tasted like? Did it blow your mind? If youâ€™re like me, you cannot wait for a reception dinner to wrap up or the candles to be blown out so you can have that small (or VERY LARGE) piece of cake sat right in front of you. It is by far my favorite part of any wedding or party!

A cake represents a lot about a person or a couple â€“ what they like and their personal style. It can mean just as much for a wedding shower, baby shower or birthday party. So if youâ€™re going to say something about yourself through cake, shouldnâ€™t you find a bakery that speaks volumes!?! The Cakery is just that bakery for me here in St. Louis! Nestled in Dogtown (on Tamm Avenue), the Cakery has been exciting my taste buds for the past 5 years now. If you want a quick taste test, just stop by the Cupcakery in the Central West End for a sweet treat! They had me at â€œcupcakeâ€ and will have you too!

For weddings and parties, the Cakery has a wide assortment of cake flavors, fillings and icing â€“ creating a butter cream tasting to die for! I’ve done it once and I’d do it again if I could. Not only is the cake itself amazing, but the design options and variety are too â€“ attempting almost any cake or cupcake design imaginable.
