You heard me right, Wish Upon a Wedding St. Louis made it’s first appearance at a bridal show – the St. Louis Perfect Wedding Guide Bridal Show at Windows on Washington in downtown St. Louis to be exact! Before I go any further, I MUST send out a very, very big thank you to Kassaundra and Adam from St. Louis Perfect Wedding Guide for donating a booth to Wish Upon a Wedding St. Louis! It was such a generous offer and we appreciate it more than I can say!

Kristin Weis, our board secretary, and I were on site for the four hour show to promote the organization, and I must admit the turnout and response was fantastic! Not that I would expect anything less from St. Louis! While many brides and their families had never heard of Wish Upon a Wedding, they certainly left more informed and eager to help out!

It happened one Wednesday night in St. Louis at Lumen Private Event Space, and in fact it happened LAST night! The Wish Upon a Wedding St. Louis Chapter was officially launched last night and it was a huge success! Wedding industry professionals from all over the city came by to show their support at the Caribbean-chic themed event! It was truly AMAZING! A heart-warming and emotional speech from chapter president, Lacy Branch, topped off the night right!

If you made it out, and we know about 160 of you did, we appreciate it! If you missed out, we hope you can make it to our annual Wish Upon a Wedding black-tie gala on Sunday, November 14, 2010! Now, check out some of the amazing pictures from last night!!

A 40th Birthday in St. Louis!

by Ashley in Recent Events on May 27, 2010

IMG 0615 A 40th Birthday in St. Louis! This past Saturday, Dishy Events was lucky enough to be a part of Jeff Bast’s 40th birthday celebration which took place in Granite City, IL. The party was put together by his lovely girlfriend, Tyra Saunders, and she was amazing as Dishy’s first birthday party client! We were able to help Tyra select a venue as and a few other vendors. And I must say, overall it was a great success!

Unfortunately during the always important picture taking process for the party, I learned a very valuable lesson, one every event or wedding planner should know – don’t drop your camera while trying to take pictures of your work! Duly noted to not fumble and drop my camera in the future! I missed out on some fun pics to share!

Nonetheless, I was able to salvage one great photo of Jeff’s Over the Hill cake put together by SugarBritches Cakery, a great new cake maker located right here in St. Louis. I think Shannon did a great job and I can’t wait to work with her again in the future. She’s anal about her work just like me, and that’s one of the things I love about her!

In case you can’t read the note on the cake, it says “To whom it may concern, I will be out of my office on 5/22/10 at Jeff’s 40th Birthday Party!” - G. Reaper

Love it! Two thumbs up for SugarBritches!

I wanted to take some time tonight to post some fabulous engagement photos of our October 9, 2010 couple, Jen Martin and Tim Fischer. Jen and Tim traveled all the way to Columbia, Missouri where boutique photographer, Dustin Steller, captured some great moments with them and their wedding party. While Steller Photography is based out of Kansas City, Missouri, Dustin will be shooting Jen and Tim’s wedding day in October right here in St. Louis. So for all of you St. Louis brides out there, don’t be afraid to look outside your comfort zone for a photographer that you love! In the end, it usually IS always worth it!

IMG 05171 St. Louis Event Planner Tweet Up @ The CoronadoAbout two weeks ago, Steven Becker Fine Dining expressed an interest in hosting their first “tweet up” for local event and bridal planners in the St. Louis area, and of course we all jumped at the opportunity! Who doesn’t love Steven Becker and who doesn’t love the Coronado Ballroom?!? An amazing caterer and an amazing venue all packed into one! If you haven’t seen the ballroom or tasted the food, I HIGHLY recommend taking a trip down to 3701 Lindell for a tour.

As the tweet-up (Twitterly known as the #stlplannertweetmeet) buzz grew, so did the planner guest list, roughly 20 showed up today for the luncheon hosted by Steven Becker. Needless to say, I think we were all stunned and more than excited when we arrived! Not only were we greeted with a lavishly decorated table adorned with fabulous print linen and colorful springtime flowers, but also a fantastic lunch complete with mini desserts! Did I mention they served mini desserts? :-) AH-MA-ZING!

P.Rath Couture Fashion Show

by Ashley in Recent Events on March 28, 2010

7 Refreshment Table P.Rath Couture Fashion ShowJust got back from Murphysboro, IL today where I was fortunate enough to help out with the P.Rath Couture fashion show. Patti Rath, founder of P.Rath Couture, invited me to to help coordinate and setup the event, which in the end turned out pretty awesome I think! If you read my post previously about planning the P.Rath show, you know that we came up with some fun little design touches here and there to keep the attendees engaged, make them feel welcome and encourage them to look around – specifically at the look postcards on the photo garland.

by Ashley in General | Recent Events on March 21, 2010

ABC Welcome ABC Regional Meeting in STLIt’s been about a week since I blogged last and for that I apologize! A headache has incapacitated me for just over a week now, but I feel I MUST blog after my day! Thankfully, my headache subsided long enough for me to attend the Association of Bridal Consultants (ABC) Heartland Regional Meeting in St. Louis, Missouri! And let me tell you, I’m glad I didn’t miss out! It was a very informative day with lots of awesome presenters including Lacy Branch Events, Engaging Events by Ali, Always a Bridesmaid and Splendid Communications.

Planning the P.Rath Show

by Ashley in Recent Events on March 6, 2010

PRath Logo1 Planning the P.Rath ShowHappy early March everyone! I hope you all are enjoying the beginning of Spring and if you are in St. Louis, our weather pretty much rocks today, so a big WOO-HOO to that! For today’s post, I’d thought I’d share a little bit about our next big (yet small) event coming up at the end of the month. It’s the P.Rath Couture fashion show taking place in Murphysboro, IL (about an hour and half south of St. Louis, MO) and we’re excited to be a part of it!

Now, we witnessed the last P.Rath Couture show as an attendee and it was awesome, but for her next show Patti decided to take it up a notch and plan a two-show, Saturday and Sunday event – complete with 23 new spring-time looks! She contacted Dishy directly to help throw in the extra decor touches here and there and to help coordinate the model timing, dressing and sales effort following the runway show. And we we’re happy to help! With an intimate home setting that is oh so vintage inspired, we are working on some fun, inexpensive and DIY decor touches that we wanted to share on the blog. While we don’t have the images of the final products just yet (they’re still in process), we did want to share our simple, yet fun ideas for making it all happen!

Ashley & Robin October 10, 2009

by Ashley in Recent Events on January 10, 2010

Lafayette Park UMC Ashley & Robin October 10, 2009Dishy owner and event planner, Ashley, spent nearly two years planning her perfect wedding to her best friend Robin. Admittedly avid Cardinal fans, Ashley and Robin knew the theme of their wedding had to be baseball and the color red had to play a major role, so they set out to create the most amazing baseball celebration ever! The Westin – St. Louis provided the perfect reception setting, a modern themed ballroom and a location to die for – right next to Cardinals’ Busch Stadium! Lafayette Park United Methodist Church, nestled at the corner of Lafayette Park, provided the traditional touch they were seeking. Check out some of the fantastic pictures from their special day!
