Don’t fret though! There is good news for all you St. Louis brides out there…Mallory and Stephen TRAVEL! And trust me, it’s worth the additional mileage and hotel (if departing past 8:00pm) fees. Not only do they take fabulous photos, but they are a complete and utter pleasure to work with! Not to mention great dinner dates! And away we go…

August 7th, 2010 was a magical day for a wonderful couple, and not just because it finally wasn’t 100 degrees in St. Louis, but because several local vendors banded together to make dreams come true! Lauren and Karl tied the knot in front of about 140 guests at St. Joseph’s Church in Clayton and topped the night off with a ROCKING reception at An American Place downtown!

Kristin Weis, our board secretary, and I were on site for the four hour show to promote the organization, and I must admit the turnout and response was fantastic! Not that I would expect anything less from St. Louis! While many brides and their families had never heard of Wish Upon a Wedding, they certainly left more informed and eager to help out!

Many thanks go out to St. Louis Perfect Wedding Guide, Belli Fiori, BBJ Linen and Two Blue Doors for making our first bridal show booth a success! We are so very fortunate to have wonderful St. Louis vendors willing to help out with no questions asked and for that we appreciate you! We look forward to many more successful shows in the future!

Unfortunately during the always important picture taking process for the party, I learned a very valuable lesson, one every event or wedding planner should know – don’t drop your camera while trying to take pictures of your work! Duly noted to not fumble and drop my camera in the future! I missed out on some fun pics to share!

Nonetheless, I was able to salvage one great photo of Jeff’s Over the Hill cake put together by SugarBritches Cakery, a great new cake maker located right here in St. Louis. I think Shannon did a great job and I can’t wait to work with her again in the future. She’s anal about her work just like me, and that’s one of the things I love about her!

And away we go for a pillow fight, some breakfast and a trip to the University of Missouri – Columbia library. (second floor stacks maybe??)

I just love these photos! So fun and energetic…not to mention they really do capture personality! We couldn’t be happier for Jen and Tim and we’re excited to be a part of their big day! As the tweet-up (Twitterly known as the #stlplannertweetmeet) buzz grew, so did the planner guest list, roughly 20 showed up today for the luncheon hosted by Steven Becker. Needless to say, I think we were all stunned and more than excited when we arrived! Not only were we greeted with a lavishly decorated table adorned with fabulous print linen and colorful springtime flowers, but also a fantastic lunch complete with mini desserts! Did I mention they served mini desserts? AH-MA-ZING!

We were welcomed by the fabulous team at the Coronado – Steven Becker, Kathy Becker, Rob Schaefer, Regina Grasso and Jaci Burgess! And after a bit of planner mingling, Steven Becker shared some fun facts about the Coronado for all you future brides out there. Like, did you know there is a bed and breakfast right literally right behind the building?! It’s called the Grand Center Guesthouse! Lots of the planners in attendance got a tour of the guesthouse, and while I missed out, I think the web site and pictures speak for themselves!

One of the highlights of our luncheon was listening to the always-phenomenal Rob Schaefer talk about how he got started in the event planning industry. He also shared some tips and tricks to help all us newbies along the way. And of course, he shared some great details about the Coronado, including top-secret  information on how they not only pamper their clients and guests but also how they pamper their vendors (wink wink).

The Coronado is not only a fabulous space to work but it is backed with a staff that exudes professionalism in everything they do and is always willing to go above and beyond. You MUST check the space out in person because sometimes the pictures won’t always do it proper justice. If you’re still searching for the perfect wedding venue in St. Louis, I suggest giving the Coronado some consideration. And if you’re interested in a sampling of the food to get your taste buds rolling, you can grab a quick bite at Nadoz Cafe!

A big thanks to Steven Becker Fine Dining for hosting such a great inaugural tweet up today, and for making us all feel so welcome! Can’t wait to work with you in the future! And thanks for all the great times in the previous years, Rob!

While some of the design elements changed as we got closer to the event, it still accomplished what we wanted – a personal, welcoming and Spring-like touch for the attendees. After all, it was an at-home fashion show direct from Patti’s living room and dining room!

A big thanks to Patti for letting Dishy be a part of her event! It was a great time for all and I’m looking forward to the next one in October!
