Carol & Jason: A Quick Recap

by Ashley in Recent Events | Weddings on June 12, 2011

I first met Carol and Jason in January 2011, a mere 6 months before their wedding date! I was beyond excited when they decided to have me on board to help plan their wedding. From the very beginning, Carol and Jason were so laid back and easy going, traits which I really love!

Fast forward six months to June 11th where friends and family gathered from across the globe (literally since Jason is from Australia) to join the happy couple in the perfect outdoor ceremony! Thanks Mother Nature for cooperating! Afterward, we hopped on buses to Union Station Marriott where Carol, Jason and guests rocked the dance floor all night, including an impressive “hava nagila.” All in all a fabulous day and I’m grateful I could be there to help make it a reality!

Here are a few quick shots taken by coordinator, Amanda. But be on the lookout for the REAL photos from one of my St. Louis faves, Stephen Seward Photography!

Trending the Royal Wedding

by Ashley in General | Weddings on May 2, 2011

If I had to guess, many of our readers caught a glimpse of Kate and William’s Royal Wedding details. And if you’re like me you’ve caught that glimpse at least 5 or 6 times now. While some trends I could live without, others are quite memorable, and some of which I think will start to play out in more and more weddings in U.S. What are those trends you might be pondering to yourself?! WELL, I know you didn’t ask but, here are a few of my initial reactions anyway!

Trees in the Church!

I actually really like this one, but I anticipate this won’t be a cheap feat! Brides be warned!

Royal Wedding: William & Kate

by Ashley in General | Weddings on April 30, 2011

Well you can’t be a wedding planner and NOT blog about this one! Unless you were under a rock yesterday (4/29/11), you probably noticed that the world’s breath was taken away by a simple, classic and STUNNING bride. You guessed it, that bride was none other than Kate (Catherine) Middleton, hence forth known as Her Royal Highness, the Dutchess of Cambridge.

We got our first glimpse of Kate as she and her dad were arriving to Westminster Abbey in the Queen’s classic 1977 Rolls Royce Phantom VI. And boy did she look happy! I know I would be too if I was on my way to become a real life princess.

Carol & Jason: Engaged

by Ashley in General | Weddings on April 24, 2011

Carol and Jason are such a wonderful couple, laid back but always very certain of what they want. I’ve had the pleasure of working with them both to plan their June 11th wedding for the past few months and I was elated on Friday to get a sneak peak of their engagement photos. After waiting for a nice spring day, which has been quite the challenge here in St. Louis let me tell ya, Carol and Jason finally got out and about in Forest Park for a few shots!

Brought to you by the uber talented, Stephen Seward from Stephen Seward Photography, here are just a handful of my favorites from the day!

It’s Good Being Dishy

by Ashley in General | Weddings on April 18, 2011

Hi everyone! It’s not every day we receive praise from our clients but when we do, sometimes we like to share. We love what we do, and we put our hearts into everything we plan and we hope it pays off. With that said, I wanted to share some reviews we received on Wedding Wire from some very satisfied 2010 brides!

Wedding Day Schedule — ReDo!

by Ashley in General | Weddings on April 13, 2011

Okay, so I originally posted this one a (long) while back, but as I sit here working on wedding schedules, I feel the need to bring it back! Forgive me for the repeat but this is a necessary evil!Scheduling Wedding Day Schedule ReDo!

Having a schedule for your wedding day is an absolute MUST! Even if you decide not to hire a planner, you still need to put together a schedule for the big day. Of course this is the planner in me talking, but in all reality having a schedule can really make your life easier. In fact, it won’t just make life easier for you, it will make the lives of everyone else involved in your day easier too!

I could go on and on about why a schedule is needed, but I realize that you don’t have all day. So I’ll get right to the point. Here a few key reasons why you need a schedule for your big day.

Re-posting this from the Wish Upon a Wedding national blog. This is a great organization that I am honored to be a part of and I am so happy we were able to make Jason and Melissa’s wedding wish come true! What an amazingly sweet couple!

Such is the case for Jason Trent, a young father of two who was diagnosed last August with a stage four glioblastoma multiforme, the most aggressive and malignant form of brain cancer. On March 7, 2011 he married the girl of his dreams, Melissa Trent, the best friend who has already stood by his side in sickness and in health.

How to Avoid Bridezilla Status

by Ashley in General | Weddings on January 25, 2011

1077748 bridal stance How to Avoid Bridezilla StatusWe’ve all seen it on television, the bride who just ever so slightly tips over the edge when something goes wrong during planning or on the day of her wedding.

She’s the bride who may just be stressed out enough to drop an f-bomb here or there when speaking to a family. She’s the bride that nobody wants to upset, but everyone is afraid to be around. That’s her. That’s the Bridezilla. Side note: You DO NOT want to be her!

Jenny & Ryan: A Quick Recap

by Ashley in Recent Events | Weddings on November 7, 2010

Well we wrapped up our final Dishy wedding for 2010 last night and what a way to end the wedding season, with a BANG! Mr. and Mrs. Ryan and Jenny Kiernan :-) are such an amazing couple and it shined through in everything about their wedding day. Both Mizzou grads, Jenny a cheerleader and Ryan a basketball player, they couldn’t be more of a match made in heaven! I was honored to be a part of their wedding day and even more impressed with the amount of thought they put into each and every detail. Between the dueling pianos and DJ mixes, the limbo and several dance offs, this was a wedding to remember!

Here are a few quick shots taken by my always amazing Event Coordinator, Amanda. And as usual, even better photos will follow from the true photographer, Steven Seward!

Jen & Tim: A Quick Recap

by Ashley in Recent Events | Weddings on October 11, 2010

So who could have guessed that it would be 88 degrees on October 9th in St. Louis!!? Well it was, and while the weather was somewhat of a shocker, Jen and Tim’s wedding day was fantastic! I met Jen in college and was super excited when she allowed my assistance on her wedding day! Her creativity shined through in everything about the day and I was so happy to be a part of it!

I wanted to share a few of my always fabulous (but not always in focus) snap shots from the wedding day! Of course, these will be blown away once I receive the AH-MAZING photos from Dustin Steller, a well-known Kansas City, MO wedding photographer, that made the drive for Jen and Tim’s wedding. But I’ll take my chances until then! P.S. When Dustin’s not shooting, he is fairly impressive on the dance floor! No joke! :-)
