I’ve never been a person to go all out for Valentine’s Day. And now that I’m married, I can’t imagine things will change much. Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for the lovey dovey stuff! I just don’t usually feel the need to go out for a big night on the town to show the person I love just how much I love him!
Given those facts, I wanted to share some of the best ideas I’ve seen on how you can have the best Valentine’s Day right in the comfort of your own home. Most come from SheKnows.com…and let me tell ya, she really does know! If your down for something a little more risque, she knows about those too.
- Light a Fire – And add a bottle of champagne! To me, there is nothing more romantic than throwing a log in the fire place, sitting by the fire and sipping a glass of champagne. Not only will this be a calm, relaxing and enjoyable evening, but the price can be pretty reasonable too!
- Have a Camp Out – Remember having camp outs in your living room when you were younger? Well how about reminiscing on those days and having a camp out with your loved one. You’re never too old for a camp out, so get that palette ready on the living room floor and enjoy yourself!
- Plan a Scavenger Hunt – This one was too cute to pass up. How about hiding love notes or small tokens of you affection around the house for your Valentine and making him or her follow the clues? At the end, have a special surprise…roses, dinner or whatever you come up with. Your Valentine will definitely appreciate the thought and effort you put into it!
- Play Truth or Dare – Truth or Dare was always a fun game in high school, mostly because of the underlying tension and butterflies you got while playing with someone you liked. Something tells me that playing with someone you love will be even better! If you’re still a little shy, try focusing on the truth and ask memorable questions about your relationship. It’s sure to be a good time!
- Make a Special Meal – Even if you’re not a great cook, you can still surprise your loved one with a special meal for Valentine’s Day. Maybe try their favorite meal or a new recipe – either way it’s the thought that counts in the end. And hey, if worse comes to worse, order in, set the table and make it look like you tried!
In case you hadn’t noticed the gist of the suggestions I provided here, I’ll break it down for you. Have fun but don’t break the bank. Valentine’s Day is about spending time with the one you love. So the more unique and personal you make the day, the better off you’ll be in the end. And if your missing a Valentine this year…get your booty out there and celebrate the single life with your friends!
Cheers and Happy Valentine’s Day to you and yours!
