Scheduling Why You Need a Wedding ScheduleHaving a schedule for your wedding day is an absolute MUST! Even if you decide not to hire a planner, you still need to put together a schedule for the big day. Of course, this is the planner in me talking, but in all reality having a schedule can really make your life easier. In fact, it won’t just make life easier for you, it will make the lives of everyone else involved in your day easier too!

I could go on and on about why a schedule is needed, but I realize that you, our readers, don’t have all day. So I’ll get right to the point. Here a couple of key reasons a schedule will help you on your big day.

  1. Your vendors will know where to be, what to do and at what time. Vendors are typically pretty good about knowing where to drop things off, set them up and scheduling pick-up times. However, there are a few vendors that might need a little extra information to ensure your day goes smoothly. Your bad or DJ might need to know when the first dance will take place, the toasts, the wedding party announcements and the bouquet/garter toss. The coordinator at your venue may need to know how long cocktail hour will be, when dinner service should begin and when dessert will be served. And you know how they find these things out? No, not by bugging you that day! They can refer to your schedule!
  2. Your wedding party will know where to be, what to do and at what time. Now I know you’ve probably got a few really organized friends who mark times and locations down on calendars religiously. But for those few friends, maybe a groomsmen or two, who need a physical piece of paper that tell them where to be – a schedule could really come in handy! The schedule will tell them what time to be dressed, where and when to catch the limo or bus and what time they need to be ready to walk down that isle! The schedule encompasses all of this information and more, and handing one out to all members of your wedding party will result in more on-time arrivals.
  3. Someone else can take over and tell you where to be, what to do and when. I know what you’re thinking – you made the schedule so you know where to be and what to do on your big day – so what’s the benefit of a schedule for you? Well, in all reality once you wake up that wedding morning, the day can tend to be a blur and you will likely forget some of the detail you included in your schedule. Handing a schedule over to someone else – say a wedding planner – will help to alleviate any stress you are likely to experience. You’ll be so busy enjoying yourself and savoring the day, you may forget that your first dance is coming up in two minutes. And that’s where the schedule comes in!

Clock Why You Need a Wedding ScheduleLong story short, I cannot express enough how important a wedding day schedule truly is. It really will help put your mind at ease and let you enjoy your day. Keep in mind when developing a schedule – it needs to be DETAILED and it needs to be distributed to all pertinent parties! Don’t leave any room for questions or confusion! And when in doubt, a wedding planner is a great resource to work with you on developing that schedule.

That’s my rant for the day! Good luck and happy planning. Cheers!
